Ma Haijiao

Introduction

Ma Haijiao

Born in Hebei in 1990, he studied at the China Academy of Art from 2009 to 2016 and received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. He currently works and lives in Beijing. He has long paid attention to the "daily" part of life, and used it as a basis to trace logical clues to form work patterns and video texts. His recent solo exhibitions and personal projects include "If you delete the green, if you start to care about plants"

His recent group exhibitions include "Can’t Help Turning Around" (Zhongzhong Art Museum,  Beijing, 2020); "ARRAY" (Baton Gallery,  Seoul, 2019); "Symbiosis: Intertextuality between Poetry and Art" (OCAT,  Shenzhen, 2019); "8102: Related to Reality" (OCAT, Shanghai, 2018); "The First Anren Biennale: Today and Past" (Chengdu, 2017); "Exceptional State" (Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing , 2017); "The 11th Shanghai Biennale: Why not ask again" (Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai, 2016). Ma Haijiao was nominated for the Jimei Arles Discovery Award in 2020, nominated for the Sanya Huayu Youth Award and the 10th Three Shadows Photography Award in 2018, and was nominated for "ART021×Porsche Chinese Young Artist of the Year" in 2017. His work was sponsored by the University of Chicago Smart Art Museum, Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, ZARYA Contemporary Art Center (Vladivostok) collection.
